COVID-19 SAFETY UPDATES AND FOOD DRIVE REMINDER

Good Morning, Everyone,

With the rollout of some further guidelines from the provincial government yesterday, we have reviewed the safety protocols and measures we have at the Centre. While we are not effected by the announcement yesterday, we are taking this opportunity to reinforce and update some of our existing safety measures and issue a few reminders. We can’t thank everyone enough for the care and consideration you have all brought to the Centre so far. Let’s keep working together so that we can get keep curling for the remainder of our season!

A few slight changes:

1) We have staggered the ends that you will start your curling game on to optimize physical distancing. Sheets A and C will start their game glass side and Sheets B and D will start their games at the far end. Please remember this at the end of your game and make sure the rocks are placed back at the right end of the ice :)

2) Tables in the lounges have been separated again. Please sit at the table with your own team. Even though the tables have been separated to support social distancing, please don’t let that stop you from socializing (socially-distanced) with the team you played. Also, please do not use the couch area to socialize after the game. Please take advantage of our newly renovated upstairs lounge to maximize social distancing post game.

A few reminders:

1) If you want to where you mask iceside, please feel free to do so. We are not mandating this at this point, but are encouraging people to do so if you feel it adds an extra layer of protection. Masks are still required when moving around the Centre.

2) Please sanitize your hands when you get out to the ice. If you are removing your mask to play, hand sanitization should happen right after you remove your mask.

3) Get your booster as soon as you can! The government announced new eligibility guidelines  yesterday for booster shots. While it is not yet mandatory, we anticipate that at some point boosters will be required for proof of vaccine.

4) Stay home if you are sick. The new Omicron appears to be more transmissible than other variants. With the new quarantine measures requiring close contacts to isolate regardless of the outcome of a Covid test, we want to make sure that all can enjoy their holidays sans mandatory isolation.

And now for some good news :) Our Food Drive is still going strong thanks to all the contributions made to date. There is still time to drop off donations at the Centre. President Tim was on the radio yesterday promoting our food drive to the Woodstock community. We are so grateful to our curling community for joining us in helping those in need this holiday season. Donations will be delivered to Operation Sharing Monday, December 20.

As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns, please let us know.

All the best,

Your WCC Board of Directors
