A MESSAGE FROM TIM, OUR WCC PRESIDENT: WOODSTOCK CURLING CENTRE'S NEW VISION AND MISSION

Dear Curlers,

We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and are staying safe and healthy. I can say personally for Tammy and I it certainly was different as it was for everyone. We miss our families very much as well as our curling family at the Centre.

Even though we are not curling, I want everyone to know that the WCC Board of Directors are working hard for you in planning and preparing for the upcoming 2021/2022 Curling season. Rest assured folks we will be curling soon and it will be better than ever!

One item we would like to share with you is our newly crafted vision and mission statements. We as a Board felt that this was important to outline what we at the Centre are about and focus on what we are trying to build and achieve. This vision and mission will be our touchstone for all of our decision-making and actions moving forward.

Vision Statement for The Woodstock Curling Centre

“To provide a hub for recreational curling and non-curling social activities for all ages.”

Mission Statements for The Woodstock Curling Centre
  • The Woodstock Curling Centre is a vital contributor to the well-being of the residents of the Woodstock community and surrounding area. We are a leader in promoting curling as a sport for all ages to learn, develop, and enjoy as a preferred source of winter exercise and entertainment. We will accomplish this by:
    • offering the sport of curling to the community of Oxford County in a recreational and social setting to enhance physical activity as well as social well-being.
    • creating fun, safe, age, and ability-appropriate programs for diverse groups.
These are living statements and we are open to any feedback from our community.

What else are we working on?

Over the next couple of months you will see an expanded social media presence. We are looking for a few volunteers for small commitment of 1-2 hours per month to help us create content and post to our social media channels. If you are an avid social media poster or scroller and are interested in helping us engage the Woodstock community via social media, please reach out to curl@woodstockcurling.com.

Prior to our current lockdown situation, Art Jones was leading a small team in giving our upper lounge a much needed facelift. His team has been working hard at cleaning up the Centre and getting it ready for when we can finally get back to our regularly scheduled programming.

We are also starting to explore ways in which we can make our facilities more accessible. As our mission and vision state, we want to be able to provided curling and non-curling activities to everyone in the Woodstock community in a barrier-free environment. If you know of anyone that may be able to assist us with this very important task, please email us at curl@woodstockcurling.com.

These are just a few things we wanted to highlight. If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions, please let us know at curl@woodstockcurling.com.

Wishing you all a safe and happy 2021!

Tim
