THIS WEEK AT WCC: BUILDING ACCESS UPDATE, OPERATION SHARING TOY DRIVE, AND NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Good Wednesday afternoon, Curlers,

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this last week of October. Even though we can’t be together on the ice this year, we are still going to be sharing news about what’s going on within our community! There will be lots of chances for us to connect over the upcoming season. This week, we want to share info about our annual Toy Drive, updates to building access, and some news about our board lineup.

Annual Toy Drive for Operation Sharing

For the past several years The Woodstock Curling Centre has partnered with Operation Sharing of Woodstock by collecting new toys as well as gently used winter clothing such as coats , hats , mittens etc.. The outpouring of generosity from our curlers over the years has been incredible and much needed in our community. This year the demand will be greater than ever with the Covid pandemic affecting everyone in some form or another. It is unfortunate that we cannot curl right now and be together but we can still continue to give back and help those that really could use a hand up. We have been in contact with Operation Sharing here in town and they have informed us that this year they are only accepting gift cards from Walmart and Giant Tiger. If you able to please consider donating to this wonderful organization who do so much for our community. Any gift cards can be dropped off directly to the Operation Sharing of Woodstock HQ at 22 Wilson St. or at The Woodstock Curling Centre using the drop off slot on the front door at The Curling Centre. Operation Sharing will also have volunteers on hand from Nov. 23-Dec. 11 to collect gift cards and monetary donations if you would like to drop off a donation directly.

Building Access

In an effort to reduce the number of people entering the building at this time and implement contact tracing we have decided to temporarily change the lock on the front door at The Centre. This means the key you currently have in your possession will not work. Keys for the new lock will be issued to Board members , members of the maintenance committee and employees. This will happen over the next week or so and wanted to give everyone a head’s up on what we are doing.

Welcome to Our Two Newest Board Members

We would like to welcome two new members to our team! Wes Mazur and Josh Pegg have decided to join our Board of Directors at The Curling Centre. We have no doubt that Wes and Josh will be an integral part of our team moving forward. Their passion and love of the game will only add to the success of our Centre for years to come. Welcome Wes and Josh !

As Tim stated in the previous letter sent out we are always looking for individuals to become an active Board member and join our Team. We have a great group and everything we do is for the betterment of our Centre and the game of curling. “ Many hands make light work”.

Wishing you all a spookatcular Halloween!
