IN CASE YOU MISSED IT! REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Dear Woodstock Curlers,
I am happy to share that the registration for the 2020/2021 curling season is now open! This year is like no other. Covid-19 has turned our world upside down, and the same is true for curling. Before registering, we are asking everyone to read through our
Return to Play Guidelines, as well as our
Playbook to ensure you are able to make a fully informed decision to participate in our 2020-2021 curling season. If you decide you are comfortable with the safety measures, procedures and protocols we have put in place, click on the REGISTER button on
www.woodstockcurling.com to sign up!
Here is a brief overview of some of the measures we are taking to ensure your safety this season:
·
Masks are MANDATORY, including on the ice. While our by-laws require masks be worn indoors or within public spaces where physical distancing is not possible, there are temporary exceptions.
· While seated at a table in our designated sections
· While engaging in a physical activity (sweeping or delivering a rock)
· For emergency or medical reasons
·
Clean your hands. Clean your hands. Clean your hands. We have installed multiple hand sanitization stations at the Centre for your use.
·
Physically distance as best your can at all times. See our
Return to Play Guidelines which outline the lounge and locker room flows, to best understand how the Centre will support this to the best or our abilities.
·
Staggered start times and 30 mins between draws; this means fewer draws and adjustments to leagues (see full details in our
Playbook and
Return to Play Guidelines)
·
No Lockers. Come dressed and ready to play with the exception of your curling shoes. You can hang your coat and leave your street shoes in the new designated locations within the locker rooms.
·
Bar Service will be going ahead but could be cancelled if health and safety warrants it.
·
No Food. At this time, no food is permitted at the Centre outside of snacks sold at the bar.
·
Limited time for socializing. We will be required to reduce the amount of time spent in the lounge to 40 minutes for the first draw.
In addition to the safety measures listed above, we have decided to delay our fall season to November 23, 2020. We will be limiting each league to 2 draws (please see our
Playbook for more details), this means we may have limited space available for certain leagues.
Early registration will guarantee your spot! Fees for all memberships have increased by $25 this year in order to support the cost of making the necessary changes within the Centre and the ongoing costs associated with COVID-19.
We hope that we can complete the 2020-2021 season safely, but despite all efforts the Woodstock Curling Centre
cannot guarantee that Covid-19 will not be transmitted here. We felt it important to make sure you are aware of this risk before you finalize your registration. We will ask you to accept the terms of these agreements when you complete your registration, however, you can also find them
here.
Even though we are opening registration with the full intention of running a season, there is
no guarantee the season will go ahead. We may need to postpone, take a break, stop early or cancel entirely to comply with public health regulations and respond to the current environment. Should any of these possibilities occur, we have a refund policy in place for your review
here.
Please take the time to review all of our
safety protocols and our
Playbook. Our goal is to reduce the risk of contracting and spreading Covid-19, and while the Centre has done a lot to mitigate the risks, the final choice to play is yours. Should you have any questions, please contact us at
curl@woodstockcurling.com
Sincerely
Danielle Walker
WCC President
