Happy Holidays, Curlers! 

Hoping this email finds everyone well and wishing you all a lovely holiday season. We hope you have had time to spend with your family, friends and perhaps a little couch time too.

2020 is right around the corner and so is the Special Olympics Tankard Qualifier that Woodstock is hosting on Sunday January 12.

The Woodstock Rockers have qualified for this competition and as soon as we are back on the ice we will continue to practice hard with hopes of advancing to the Tankard in Cornwall in early February.

On behalf of Brian Ferris- we have three last Christmas wishes we need fulfilled: 

Curl with the Woodstock Rockers
We are looking for 3 people to curl against our competition team on Sunday January 5. This would be a 6 end game and it would start at 1 pm. Our team has 5 players and the 3 we need (plus one of ours) would round out the two teams. With this game we are oping to work out the Christmas cobwebs and get us back on track for January 12.

Division Committee Members 
To ensure that athletes feel confident they competing within a fair and balanced event on the day of competition we (as hosts) are required to assemble a "divisioning committee" This committee should be composed of diverse curlers of varying levels of experience (ie. new curlers, somewhat experienced and very experieced) We need 8 - 10 people willing to observe the curlers during divisioning games and then as a group decide which teams should be in either the "A" or "B" category for the competition which happens directly after these divisioning games (on the same day) . Your time and services would be required on Sunday January 12 from 8:00 am until approximately 11:00 am (most of this time will be spent on the ice - dress appropriately and bring your curling shoes).

Are you an experienced curler? Please consider being our competition official :) 
As hosts we are also expected to arrange at least two officials for the competition. At this time we have been unable to secure ANY "certified officials" from the area as they are all working at the Continental Cup in London which is happening at the same time as our competition. Because of this scheduling conflict - Special Olympics Ontario has said that we have the option of utilizing EXPERIENCED curlers as officials (rather than "certified officials"). Your time and services as an official would be required from 8:00 am until approx 5:00 pm (most of this time would be spent on the ice - dress appropriately and be sure to bring your curling shoes) For continuity and ease - it is best if our officials can be present and officiating throughout the duration of the day - however we can certainly make the exception if you are only available for a "half day".
