And of course, we have to give a huge thank you and shout out to all who came out to participate! Thank you for your ongoing support!
2) Learn to Curl Instructors Needed- Volunteer Opportunity
Speaking of volunteers, we are in need of 4 more volunteer learn to curl instructors to help us out with our booming Learn to Curl program this year. We have had an overwhelming response this year, with over 60 learn to curlers joining us for the fall session alone! This is thanks to the efforts of coordinator Carlos Gregario and his team of savvy promoters.
What does it take to be an instructor?
A few hours of time a week, a love of the game, and a willingness to help others learn! That’s it!
Learn to Curl is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this year. We are short instructors on the Tuesday evening, but if you can help out with either night, please email Carlos at
borne2curl@gmail.com or Danielle at
dwalks06@gmail.com.
3) Ontario Trillium Foundation Recognition Event
Last Friday we welcomed some special guests to the Centre to help us celebrate our new ice making equipment and thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous gift.
Thank you to all who came out for the event, including many youth members and day curlers, as well as our Special Olympics friends! It was a great evening to reconnect with everyone, test out our new ice and celebrate the upcoming season!
Special thanks to Judy Farlow for organizing the event, to Danielle Walker for sharing our story and to ice maker Tom Farlow for getting the ice ready to go! For a detailed account of the night’s events, check out the article in the
Woodstock Sentinel Review.
4) Registration Deadline: October 10
Our conveners are hard at work putting together teams and leagues and that means our registration deadline is near! To guarantee a spot in a league, please register by midnight on Thursday, October 10. Teams and schedules will be going out this weekend!
